Replacement exhausts for a model of the P-51D Mustang fighter in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The P-51D Mustang is an American fighter of the Second World War and one of the most frequently built subjects of all. You will tell it by the bubble canopy, which gave the pilot a view in every direction, and by the slender nose with the exhausts led out in a row on both sides. It is precisely those that are visible on a model from every angle.
Exhausts from a kit tend to be coarser, with soft edges, and they blend into the surface around them. A separate accessory replaces them with a part sharper in shape, which holds the proportions better and stands being looked at from close up. It is one of those small swaps that cost a few minutes of work and are immediately apparent on a finished model.
The exhausts are sprayed separately from the fuselage and fitted right at the end. The base tends to be a dark metallic tone, over which rusty and gray shades are drybrushed, so that the surface looks scaled and burnt. Behind the exhausts, scorched streaks stretched along the fuselage over time; suggesting them with a fine spray adds credibility to a model, but it is easy to overdo.
The kit, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
