A plastic dustbin in 1:48 scale is a diorama accessory, not a kit. It gives a street scene, a yard or the back of a workshop the small thing that furnishes the whole at once.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a stand-alone object of a scene, not a model of machinery. The subject is an ordinary plastic trash can, that is a wheeled container with a hinged lid of the kind found today by every house and business. In 1:48 scale it belongs among those small things a viewer does not consciously notice, but without which a scene looks empty and unfinished.
A trash can is a typical element of a civilian setting, so it suits street scenes, the backs of buildings, the yards of workshops, gas stations and parking areas. Because the subject is modern, it keeps to scenes from roughly the second half of the twentieth century to the present day. It looks effective by a wall or in a passage, where it creates a visual barrier and helps lead the eye to the main model. A part-open lid or a slight turn against a facade looks more natural than a trash can standing exactly square.
First wash the part in lukewarm soapy water and let it dry out. Sand the parting marks and any flash carefully; with an object this small a sanding sponge with a fine grit is enough. A base color follows, because on a smooth surface the covering coat otherwise rubs off easily. Trash cans tend to be strongly colored, so you can allow yourself a saturated shade that gives a scene a note of color. Realism is helped by a dark wash around the lid and the edges, a light dry brush on the upper outlines and a dust pigment by the wheels and at ground level. Dents from knocks and a scuffed edge of the lid are the small things that move a small part a long way forward.
The accessory is supplied unpainted. Paints, glue and a base for the diorama are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
