Reskit 1:48 Polikarpov U-2/Po-2 wheels set is a set of resin wheels for a model of the Polikarpov U-2 biplane, later designated Po-2, in 1:48 scale. It is a detail accessory, not a kit.

This is not a model of an aircraft but a resin accessory for a model of the biplane in 1:48 scale. On a machine with fixed landing gear, changing the wheels carries more weight than on an aircraft with a retracting mechanism, because the wheels are permanently in view and, together with the struts, make up one of the first things you register when you look at a model. Machines of this type also worked from unprepared surfaces, so wheels with a pronounced, unbroken tread pattern and with room for dust give a model character. A resin casting keeps the tread untouched, because there is no need to sand a mold parting line away.
The Polikarpov U-2 was a Soviet biplane of mixed construction from the end of the 1920s, originally designed as a trainer. For its simplicity, its low demands on maintenance and its ability to take off from short and unpaved surfaces it was also used for transport, liaison, ambulance and agricultural tasks and became one of the most numerously built aircraft of all. After the death of its designer the type was redesignated Po-2. The landing gear was fixed, with a pair of main wheels on struts and a skid at the tail.
Wash the parts in lukewarm water with a detergent, cut the casting block off with a saw and level the surface by wet sanding. On a biplane with fixed landing gear, glue the wheels on only once the struts are finished, so that the legs can still be aligned if need be. They are glued with cyanoacrylate. Keep the tire in a dark gray tone and leave traces of service on it: a layer of dry dust above the tread, a darker, damper-looking shade at the contact patch. The hub may be metal or painted in the shade of the aircraft; check the particular finish against photographs of the machine you are modeling. Dusting the wheels and the lower parts of the struts is practically compulsory on this type, as otherwise the model looks as though it came out of a show hangar.
The accessory is supplied unpainted. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
