Eduard Brassin 1:48 R-3S / AA-2 Atoll-A is a resin set of Soviet air-to-air guided missiles with launch rails. It is a weapons accessory for fighter models, not a model in its own right.

This set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard brings, in 1:48 scale, resin short-range air-to-air guided missiles R-3S (NATO code AA-2 Atoll-A) with APU-13 launch rails. It is not an airplane kit but a weapons detail set with which you arm a model of a Soviet fighter, for example the MiG-21. The package usually holds castings of the missiles, the rails, photo-etched parts for small items and decals. The transparent front of the seeker head is usually in clear resin, so you can choose either a covered or an exposed sensor.
The R-3S was an infrared-guided short-range missile, the Soviet answer to the American Sidewinder. Among the armament of Eastern Bloc fighters it was one of the most widespread weapons of its category and is a typical item under the wings of Cold War MiGs.
Wash the mold release residue off the resin parts, cut off the casting blocks and sand the surfaces gently with your airways protected. Bond with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Finish the missiles in the colors matching the decal markings; the clear head is masked at the very end.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted, as a resin detail set. Glue and paints are not included in the package.
