Chibi-Maru Fleet Atago with a sample of side cutting pliers from Fujimi is a cute distorted kit of the Japanese heavy cruiser Atago completed with a sample of tools. An easy build, no conventional scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
Chibi-Maru Fleet Atago from the Japanese manufacturer Fujimi presents the heavy cruiser Atago in the playful distorted form of the Chibi-Maru line. This is not a scale model — the hull is shortened and the superstructures cutely exaggerated. The package also holds a sample of side cutting pliers, so it suits anyone who is still building up a set of modeling equipment.
Atago belonged to the Takao class, the four heavy cruisers of the Imperial Japanese Navy with a massive, castle-like bridge superstructure. During the Second World War she served among other things as the flagship of the Second Fleet and took part in a number of operations in the southwest Pacific. She was sunk in October 1944 while moving up to the Battle of Leyte.
Use the enclosed pliers to separate the parts cleanly and trim the marks left by the sprue gates lightly with a knife. Bond them with a thin cement for plastic and paint them with acrylics — a gray hull with a contrasting deck and dark detail on the armament. A fine wash in the intricate superstructure will give the model depth, and a matte varnish goes on at the end.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
