An injection-molded plastic kit of the B-25 medium bomber in its C and D versions, in Royal Air Force markings, 1:48 scale, made by Academy. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The B-25 was an American twin-engine medium bomber with tricycle landing gear and a distinctive pair of vertical tails. The C and D versions differed mainly in where they were built and in details of armament and equipment; outwardly they are very much alike, and both have the glazed bombardier's nose. In Royal Air Force service these machines flew under the designation Mitchell Mk.II and were sent mostly against targets in western Europe. Operating them called for a quick turnaround of crews and intensive maintenance, and that left its mark on the surface of the airframes.
With a twin-engine aircraft it pays to plan the order of work in advance: the cockpit interior and the glazed nose sections are finished before the fuselage is closed, and it is worth checking straight away whether the model will sit back on its tail. The glazing is masked before the primer goes on. British schemes rest on the contrast between dark upper areas and a lighter underside, and the transition is sprayed freehand with an airbrush or over a rolled length of modeling putty. Decals are laid on a gloss base and secured with a setting solution so that they settle around the rivets and panel lines.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
