Rafale M decals in the scheme of flottille 11F

A decal sheet in 1:48 scale for a model of the Rafale M in the festive scheme that the French naval flottille 11F carried in 2019 for the hundredth anniversary of its existence. Anniversary finishes are rewarding for a modeler: on an ordinarily gray aircraft a large-area artwork suddenly appears that nobody could reasonably manage by hand painting. The item is offered as a limited edition.

The real subject

The Rafale M is the naval version of the French Dassault Rafale multirole combat aircraft. It differs from the land-based version in what operation from the deck of an aircraft carrier demands: a strengthened undercarriage, a nose leg adapted for a catapult launch and an arrester hook for landing into the wires. It is a single-seat machine with a delta wing and foreplanes ahead of it, and it handles air combat as well as attacks on ground and surface targets.

How to apply the decals

• Clear-coat the area under the decals with a gloss varnish first; on a matte surface white blotches will appear under the film.
• Cut the decal out close to the artwork, soak it in lukewarm water and let it rest until it will slide off the paper.
• Drop a little water into the place, slide the decal home and press the water out with a soft brush or a cotton swab from the center toward the edges.
• Use a softener over rivets and panel lines; a large-area artwork will otherwise bridge the recesses and the edge of the film will show.
• Clear-coat the whole model once it has dried; only that makes the decals vanish into the surface.

For builders of modern combat aircraft who want a machine with a striking anniversary finish in the display case. The model, the paints, the varnishes and the softener are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
