The color decals of the SPACE range are printed in layers, so they have raised relief and you do not have to brush paint the instruments, the panels or the small plates. The set serves to finish out the interior of a model in 1:48 scale and on its own is neither a model nor a part of one.
On the Thunderbolt the D-25 block was the turning point: it was the first of the machines from the parent factory at Farmingdale to get a cut-down fuselage spine and a bubble canopy. The pilot gained a view to the rear, but the model gained a problem at the same time, because the cockpit is suddenly visible from every side. An empty or carelessly painted cockpit simply has nowhere to hide on a bubble-top version, and that is exactly where this set comes into its own.
The P-47D was among the heaviest single-engined fighters of the war. A Pratt & Whitney R-2800 radial engine with a turbocharger gave it excellent performance at high altitude, and its rugged structure made it a sought-after machine for attacks on ground targets. In the second half of the war it escorted bomber formations over Europe, and its pilots themselves named the toughness of the aircraft as the main reason they came back from missions other types did not survive.
Spray the interior, polish it with a gloss clear coat and only then apply the decals. Moisten only the backing paper with a sponge, lift the part off with tweezers and fix it with PVA glue (white glue). Do not press a relief decal over an edge with a hard tool; a damp fine brush and a cotton swab are enough. Do not use a decal softener or setting solution, the chemicals attack the print. Let everything dry out thoroughly before you glue the fuselage together.
