The Russian R-23R AA-7 Apex missile in 1:48 scale — a resin replica of the radar-guided medium-range air-to-air missile, the typical armament of the MiG-23, from the Czech firm Plus Model.
Responsibility details are not available.
This set from the Czech manufacturer Plus Model contains a resin replica of the Soviet R-23R air-to-air guided missile in 1:48 scale. It is not a model of an aircraft; it is an accessory of external armament that belongs above all under the wings of the MiG-23.
The R-23 missile, AA-7 Apex in the NATO reporting system, came about in the Vympel design bureau as a medium-range missile developed together with the MiG-23 fighter, with whose weapons system it was directly bound up. The R-23R version homes semi-actively by radar: the target is illuminated for the duration of the flight of the missile by the radar of the carrier aircraft. MiG-23 aircraft typically carried the missiles in pairs on underwing pylons, often in a combination of the radar and the infrared version so as to cover various combat situations. The R-23 was later developed into the improved R-24.
Wash the castings free of the remains of the mold release agent before building, cut the casting blocks off and sand the marks down. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue, and fit the large stabilizing surfaces of the R-23 carefully so that the missile sits straight on the pylon. Choose the color scheme according to period photographs; the light body with its prominent surfaces is rewarding for fine shading and a wash.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
