Quickboost 1:48 SAAB J29 Tunnan front landing lights is a resin accessory with the front landing lights for models of the Swedish Saab J 29 fighter in 1:48 scale. It is not a kit but a part for improving a finished model.
Responsibility details are not available.
A small resin set from the Quickboost brand, the accessory range of the maker Aires Hobby Models. It replaces the front landing lights on a model of the Swedish Saab J 29 Tunnan fighter in 1:48 scale. The casting deals with a detail that plastic kits often fob off with a simple raised lump, and once the transparent area is finished it looks more faithful. The set does not form a model on its own.
The Saab J 29, nicknamed Tunnan for its bulky fuselage, was a Swedish jet fighter with a swept wing. It first flew at the end of the nineteen forties and became the first Western European combat aircraft with a swept wing to be built in large numbers. It served with the Swedish Air Force in many versions, from fighter through fighter-bomber to reconnaissance, and some of the machines flew abroad as well. The silhouette with its short stocky fuselage and slender tail makes it a rewarding and recognizable subject.
Small castings are easily lost, so work over a mat and cut the casting blocks off with a saw rather than with nippers. Before painting, wash the parts with lukewarm water and detergent and apply a primer. Deal with the transparent faces of the landing light with a drop of gloss varnish or clear glue, which forms a smooth meniscus once dry; it pays to back them with silver paint beforehand, so that the light appears to glow. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). The whole addition then fits into the smooth painted surface that most Tunnans have either in natural metal or in a uniform green shade.
This is an accessory, not an aircraft kit. Paints, glue and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
