A set of photo-etched parts for a model of the Sea King HAS.1 helicopter in 1:48 scale. Thin metal takes the place of the spots where a plastic part is necessarily thicker than it should be.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Sea King is a British twin-engine helicopter with a five-blade main rotor and with the underside of the fuselage shaped like a boat hull so that the machine can survive a landing on water. On the sides of the fuselage it carries sponsons into which the main landing gear retracts. The HAS.1 version is the antisubmarine form of the Royal Navy, that is a machine equipped to find and attack submarines. It is exactly on these machines that the surface and the cabin carry a mass of small elements, handles and covers on which the overall impression of a model rests.
Photo-etched parts in 1:48 scale. Photo-etch is thin sheet metal with the pattern etched into it, so the part comes out noticeably finer in scale than molded plastic, which always has its own minimum thickness. Where sheet should be sheet, a grille a grille and a belt a belt, the difference against the kit part is visible at once. The extent of the set, the placing of the individual parts and the kit the set is cut for are given in the manufacturer instructions.
Separate the parts from the fret with a sharp blade on a hard support, not with nippers; then sand the tab down with a fine file. Make the folds in a bending tool or between two blades, always in one movement, because repeated bending tires the metal and the part breaks. It is bonded with super glue applied in drops with a pin, never straight from the bottle. Before painting, wash and degrease the etch and use a base coat meant for metal, otherwise the paint will peel off the smooth surface.
The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
