The Seafire Mk.15 in British and Canadian naval service is an injection-molded plastic kit in 1:48 scale from the Czech manufacturer Special Hobby. It captures the first carrier-borne Seafire powered by the Griffon engine.

This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:48 scale is devoted to the carrier-borne Seafire fighter in the Mk.15 version, which you may also meet written as F Mk.XV. The box is focused on machines of the British Fleet Air Arm and of the Royal Canadian Navy. Special Hobby is a Czech manufacturer that has long devoted itself to less usual types and variants, so this is a subject not to be found in the ordinary range.
The Seafire is the carrier-borne adaptation of the Spitfire fighter, with a tailhook, a strengthened structure and, on the later versions, folding wings as well. The Mk.15 version is a turning point: it was the first to leave the Merlin engine behind and receive the more powerful Griffon, which brought with it a longer nose, different cowling and a four-blade propeller. The change of powerplant raised the performance but at the same time worsened the behavior when landing on a deck, so on the following versions both the tail surfaces and the hook were revised. After the war the Seafire Mk.15 served not only with the British Fleet Air Arm but also with the Royal Canadian Navy.
Short-run kits call for more dry fitting than mainstream kits do, above all at the wing-to-fuselage joint and at the seating of the canopy. Finish and paint the interior before closing up the fuselage. Sand the engine cowling and the nose carefully, because the longer Griffon nose is the most conspicuous identifying feature of the model. Fit the transparent parts only after spraying and mask them. Spray the naval camouflage in thin coats and leave the transitions soft; lightening the center of the panels pays off so that the model does not look flat. Apply the decals over a gloss clear coat and add a decal softener.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
