Photo-etched seat belts of the American army air forces of the Second World War in 1:48 scale, in the steel version.

Seat belts are the first thing the eye notices in the cockpit of a finished model. An injection-molded seat tends to be bare or to have the belts merely suggested as flat relief, and with an open canopy it shows. Photo-etched belts can be laid loosely, folded over the edge of the seat and left to drape, so the cockpit comes to life at once. The set is listed as the belts of the machines of the American army air forces of the Second World War period, that is for fighters as well as bombers of this period in 1:48 scale.
The name says steel. A thin steel strip is firmer than softer materials and, once shaped, it holds the position you bend it into, so the belt does not spring back flat and can be arranged into a natural shape. The buckles and fittings are put together according to the manufacturer's instructions, which also state how many sets the pack holds.
Cut the belts with a sharp blade on a hard surface and shape them with a round tool, for instance the shank of a drill bit, so that the bend comes out smoothly and not in a single sharp edge. Glue with cyanoacrylate applied in a minute amount; any excess runs over the seat and goes white. Before you settle the belts in the cockpit, think their position through, as you will not move them once the glue has set.
The aircraft kit, the seats, paints and glue are not part of the delivery unless stated otherwise.
