Eduard 1:48 SMB-2 Super Mystere landing flaps is a full photo-etched set of landing flaps for the French supersonic Dassault Super Mystère B.2 aircraft in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
This full photo-etched set from Eduard makes it possible to render the landing flaps of the French Dassault Super Mystère B.2 fighter in the lowered position, the way the machines commonly stood on an airfield apron. The accessory for 1:48 scale replaces the simplified solution of the base kit and reveals the inner definition of the high-lift devices of the wing. It is not a model of the aircraft but an extension of a kit.
In 1957 the Super Mystère B.2 became the first Western European series-built aircraft able to exceed the speed of sound in level flight. Besides the French Air Force it was made famous above all by Israel, where the machines proved themselves in the Six-Day War and in the conflicts that followed; the worn-out examples eventually flew on to the Honduran Air Force. The swept wing with its pronounced high-lift devices belongs among the recognition marks of the type, and lowered flaps give it a characteristic silhouette on the ground.
Before separating the flaps from the kit, mark the cut lines and take the plastic away gradually with a scraper, not by force. Bend the photo-etched sections along the marked lines and straighten longer folded edges over a steel ruler. Fit the finished flaps only once the wing is painted; it makes both the masking and the handling easier.
