Sopwith Camel Clerget engine 1:48 is a detail engine set from Eduard (resin and photo-etched parts) for models of the Sopwith Camel fighter in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
This detail set from the Brassin range by Eduard brings a faithfully rendered Clerget rotary engine for a model of the First World War Sopwith Camel fighter in 1:48 scale. The set combines resin castings with fine photo-etched parts and replaces the plastic engine from the base kit. It is not a model of the aircraft but an accessory for more demanding modelers.
The Sopwith Camel was one of the most successful British fighters of the First World War; a number of machines were powered by French Clerget rotary engines, in which the whole cylinder block turned together with the propeller. On models of biplanes an open rotary engine is a prominent feature to the eye, which is why a detailed rendering of it is worth having.
Wash the mold release agent off the resin parts, cut them off the casting blocks and bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Bend the photo-etched parts accurately and glue them likewise with super glue or with glue for photo-etch. Spray the engine with primer first and then shade it with metallic tones and a wash to bring the cylinders out.
This is an accessory set, not a model in its own right. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
