Quickboost 1:48 Spitfire Mk.I, the cockpit door is a small resin accessory that replaces the plastic entry door of the pilot compartment with a more finely cast resin substitute.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is not an aircraft kit but an aftermarket detail part from the Quickboost line, which is made by the Czech company Aires. The package contains a resin replacement of the side entry door of the pilot compartment for a model of the Spitfire Mk.I in 1:48 scale. The casting is thin-walled and carries relief of a kind that cannot be done in ordinary injection-molded plastic at this scope.
The side cockpit door of the Spitfire is very often built open on a model, so that the interior can be seen. The plastic part from the kit tends to be needlessly thick because of the molding technology and looks coarse in section. The resin replacement has a realistic edge thickness and a legible inner side, so an open door stands up to a close look and to photographs of the model.
Wash the casting first in lukewarm water with detergent, so that the remains of the mold release agent are removed; otherwise the paint does not hold. Cut the casting block off with a fine saw or a cutter and sand the area; protect your airways when sanding resin. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue), as ordinary cement for plastic has no effect on resin. Apply a primer before painting.
The accessory is supplied as an unpainted resin casting. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
