This photo-etched set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard adds fine metal detail to the plastic kit of the Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IXc in 1:48 scale. It is not a model of the aircraft but an accessory that replaces and refines selected plastic parts of the kit. It typically covers interior and exterior features - the instrument panel, seat belts, levers and small covers - etched into thin metal.
The Spitfire Mk.IX with the C type wing, the so-called universal wing, allowed various combinations of machine gun and cannon armament. The Mk.IX version with the Merlin 60 series engine was among the most widespread and most successful variants of the whole Spitfire family in combat.
The photo-etched parts are cut from the fret, bent along the pre-etched lines and bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate); on larger areas a two-part glue helps. Tweezers, a photo-etch bending tool and patience are recommended - the set is meant for more experienced modelers.
This is a detail accessory, not a standalone model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
