Decals in 1:48 for staff aircraft of the Bf 110 type. Twenty different schemes from the campaign in Poland in 1939 to night fighters of 1944.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Messerschmitt Bf 110 came about as a heavy long-range fighter, the so-called Zerstörer. Over England it turned out that it was no match for single-seat fighters, but in a quite different role, as a carrier of radar for night fighting, it served until the end of the war. This sheet follows the type across that whole transformation.
The word Stab denotes the staff flight of a wing or a group, that is, the aircraft of the commander, his deputy and the technical officer. It is exactly these aircraft that can be told at first glance: instead of the usual numbers they carried arrows, chevrons and horizontal bars on the fuselage, and the combination of these gave away the pilot's function. For a modeler it is an attractive subject, because it allows one type to be built in many unmistakable forms.
The list offers twenty different variants and covers the ZG 76 and ZG 26 wings from the beginning of the war as well as the NJG 1, NJG 3 and NJG 6 night fighter wings of the later period. The C, C-4, E and G-2 versions appear here along with the radar-equipped G-4, and names such as Helmut Lent or Hans-Joachim Jabs. Geographically the selection reaches from Warsaw through France and Kent as far as the Romanian and Bulgarian border.
Staff markings tend to be large and divided across the whole width of the fuselage. It pays to apply them onto a gloss surface and to place both halves dry first, and only then to seat them gradually. The night versions also carried the radar antenna array on the nose, which breaks off easily during handling, and it is therefore fitted as the very last step.
