Base Paint - Green is an acrylic paint from the scenic range of Woodland. It is used as the first color layer on the bare surface of a diorama, a gaming base or a module, that is where a green tone is wanted under the vegetation. It is not a paint for the airframes and bodies of models, but a broad coating over a larger area that unifies the base and turns it into a usable foundation for scatters and tufts.
Why a base coat pays off
A bare surface, whether of polystyrene, plaster, wood, papier medium or plastic, shows through the scatter material every time the grit does not spread completely evenly. A painted base solves that problem: the thinner spots in the scatter merge with the green foundation instead of shining through in an alien tone. At the same time, the glue used to fix the scatter grips a painted surface better.
For builders of dioramas and modules, for railroad modelers and for players of tabletop games who build their own terrain and bases. It is applied with a brush or a roller; on larger areas a roller is faster and leaves a more even layer. Let the coat dry and only then start sprinkling; in a damp base the grit sinks in and the surface then reads as merged together.
The paint is intended for modeling use. Work on a protected surface and in a ventilated room, close the container carefully after work and keep it out of the reach of children.
