The resin set from the brand Quickboost, made by the Czech manufacturer Aires, brings faithfully cast rearview mirrors for the frame of the canopy for a model of the Soviet Sukhoi Su-22M4 fighter-bomber (Fitter in the NATO code) in 1:48 scale. It is not an aircraft model but a small detail accessory for more experienced modelers that replaces the coarser plastic parts with a delicate casting. The mirrors on the frame of the cockpit are an inconspicuous but prominent feature, clearly visible on a finished model.

The real subject

The Sukhoi Su-22M4 was a Soviet single-engine fighter-bomber with a variable geometry wing, the export version of the Su-17 family. It served with the Soviet Air Force and with a number of friendly countries as a strike aircraft for attacks on ground targets. Among others, the Czechoslovak Air Force operated it as well.

Tips for working with resin

First wash the castings in lukewarm soapy water so that the mold release residue is removed. Cut the casting blocks off carefully and sand the cut surfaces with respiratory protection. Glue the mirrors with super glue (cyanoacrylate). The face of the mirror can be finished off with a drop of gloss varnish or a piece of self-adhesive film.
