A masking set for a model of the Supermarine Spitfire Mk.I fighter in 1:48 scale. It contains masks for the cockpit canopy from the inner and the outer side and masks for the national insignia.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Supermarine Spitfire Mk.I was a British single-seat fighter with a Merlin V12 engine, which became famous in the Battle of Britain. Its glazed cockpit has narrow frames, and it is precisely the clean painting of them that decides how a finished model comes across.
According to the name the package holds two sets of masks for the cockpit canopy, that is for the inner and the outer side, and three masks for the national insignia. Masking the canopy from both sides means that the frames stay visually clean from inside the cockpit as well, where a model can be seen into. The insignia masks make it possible to spray the round national marking instead of applying a decal, so no step and no glossy edge of film is created on the surface.
The masks go on before spraying, never after it, and onto a clean and degreased surface. Lift the elements off the backing with tweezers, seat them and press the edges down carefully. Apply the paint in thin coats, the first one only lightly, so that it seals the edge of the mask.
The model of the aircraft, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
