1:48 Supermarine Spitfire Mk.I late LööK is a set from the LööK line — a finished color instrument panel for a model of the fighter, that is a detail accessory and not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
LööK is a separate accessory line from Eduard that stands between photo-etch and the resin sets. At its core is a finished instrument panel cast in resin, completed in color and with a gloss effect on the glazed dials. The modeler glues it in place of the plastic part and does not have to paint the individual instruments or apply a decal. So it is not an airplane kit, but a partial improvement of the cockpit of a model in 1:48 scale.
An etched instrument panel is flat, and its relief comes from stacking several layers. The resin panel of the LööK line, by contrast, has relief cast in one piece, so the dials have real depth and the bezels have visible walls. The gloss layer on the dial faces imitates the glass of the instruments, which looks more convincing in photographs of the model than matte-painted plastic.
First wash the resin casting in lukewarm water with a drop of dish soap — remains of mold release agent from the mold prevent gluing. Cut any casting block off with a saw or a cutting disc and sand the surface; when sanding resin protect your airways and work wet. The panel is glued into the plastic cockpit with super glue, and the plastic part often has to be thinned slightly so that the result sits flush. Do not spray over the colored surface, and protect it with a mask while finishing the cockpit.
This is an accessory for the build, not a model in its own right. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
