About product

Quickboost 1:48 TBF/TBM Avenger engine

A resin replacement engine for a model of the American carrier torpedo aircraft TBF/TBM Avenger in 1:48 scale. It is not an aircraft model but a detail part by the brand Quickboost. A faithfully cast radial engine markedly improves the look of the nose, above all with the cowling panels open.

The real subject

The Grumman TBF (and the license-built TBM) Avenger was an American carrier torpedo bomber committed during the Second World War in the Pacific. It was powered by the Wright R-2600 Twin Cyclone radial engine. The view of the engine from the front is among the most conspicuous details of the whole aircraft.

Usage tips

Wash the parts free of mold release agent, separate them from the casting block with a cutter or a saw and glue them with cyanoacrylate. Sand and clean up with respiratory protection. Before painting, roughen the surface lightly and apply a primer suitable for resin, so that the paint holds well and does not peel anywhere.

Who the part is for

  • Builders of an Avenger model in 1:48 scale
  • Anyone interested in a faithful radial engine
  • Modelers who want to open the cowling panels
  • More advanced builders working with resin

This is an accessory for refining a kit, not a standalone model. Glue, paints and the kit are not included in the package.
