A photo-etched set for a model of the UH-1D transport helicopter in 1:48 scale. It replaces coarser plastic detail with thin metal parts.
Responsibility details are not available.
The UH-1D is the transport version of the helicopter known by the nickname Huey. Compared with the earlier versions, it received a lengthened cabin with a larger cargo compartment, entered through wide sliding doors. The machine sits on skids and its main rotor has two blades. The open doors are both an opportunity and an obligation for a modeler: you can see into the cabin, so every simplified detail in it shows.
Photo-etched parts are etched from thin metal sheet and are therefore considerably thinner than the corresponding plastic parts from a kit. On a helicopter with a glazed and open cabin that is exactly where it shows most. The range of parts and where they go on the model are given by the manufacturer in the instructions, and that is also where you find which kit the set is intended for.
The interior parts go in before the fuselage halves are joined, so read the whole set of instructions in advance and plan the order of work. Separate the parts with a sharp blade on a hard surface and pick them up with tweezers, not with your fingers. Make the bends in a bending tool or along a steel ruler. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue in a really small quantity, and with epoxy on larger areas. Degrease the metal and apply a primer before painting, or the paint will chip off as you handle it.
The model of the helicopter, the paints and the glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
