An injection-molded plastic model of the American attack helicopter AH-64D Apache Longbow in 1:48 scale from the Japanese brand Hasegawa. The set offers a faithfully rendered fuselage with fine surface detail, a well-worked cockpit interior, two crew figures, detailed landing gear and rotors. The box holds the armament typical of this machine and decals as well: it is a popular and detailed kit of one of the best known attack helicopters in the world.
The AH-64D Apache Longbow is a development version of the American Apache attack helicopter, most conspicuously set apart by the dome-shaped fire control radar mounted above the main rotor head. The radar allows targets to be detected, sorted and engaged by priority even in poor visibility. The helicopter carries anti-tank guided missiles, unguided rockets and a traversing 30 mm cannon under the fuselage; the two-man crew is a pilot and a gunner sitting one behind the other. The Apache became the backbone of the attack aviation of the US Army and of a number of other countries.
Glue the parts with modeling cement for plastic; paint and shade the cockpit interior before closing the fuselage. The small antennas and grab handles are fragile, so work carefully when cleaning up the molding marks. Apply a base coat of primer before painting; for the usual dark gray-green finish of the helicopter, gentle accenting of the panels and dusting of the landing gear with pigments suit well. Fit the rotor blades and the armament racks according to the instructions at the very end.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
