1:48 U.S. M20 basic photo-etched set is an accessory for a plastic kit of the American M20 armored car you have already bought, not a model in its own right. The photo-etched parts sharpen up the external detail that cannot be molded from plastic in a real thickness. Target kit: Tamiya.

The set is meant for owners of the plastic kit of the American M20 armored car in 1:48 scale, which it is cut for; it does not hold the model itself. Hauler uses the designation BASIC for a basic set that concentrates on sharpening up the outside of a build. The parts are etched in a thickness of tenths of a millimeter, so they keep the real thickness of plates, brackets and grab handles - something an injection mold cannot manage. The photo-etched fret is cut for the Tamiya kit.
The M20 was an American six-wheeled armored car derived from the M8 reconnaissance car. Instead of a rotating turret it got an open fighting compartment with a ring mount for a heavy machine gun, and it was used for reconnaissance, signals work, escorting convoys and as a command vehicle. An open body means that you can see inside on a finished model, and the external detail is therefore all the more conspicuous.
Bend the photo-etched parts in a bender or between two razor blades laid exactly on the bend line; run the bend on the side where the groove is etched. Before shaping longer parts, anneal them briefly over a flame and let them cool - the metal softens and stops springing back. Cut away the original plastic detail that the photo-etch replaces and sand the area smooth. Degrease the metal with alcohol, go over it with a base coat and only then paint; without a base coat the paint does not hold on photo-etch and rubs off during handling.
This is an accessory set, not a kit. The base model, glue, paints and tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
