A turned metal replacement part: the pitot tube of American aircraft of the Second World War in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
A pitot tube senses the ram air pressure and is the source of the airspeed reading. On a real machine it is a thin tube projecting from the leading edge of the wing or from the side of the fuselage, that is, a detail that shows against the sky on a model. The part from a kit tends to be thicker because of the mold and breaks off easily during the build; a metal replacement holds its shape and stands up to handling.
This is a turned metal part in 1:48 scale, intended as a replacement for the tube on an American aircraft of the Second World War period. Check the exact number of pieces in the package and which kit and which type the part fits in the manufacturer's instructions.
Cut the original part off with a sharp blade and sand the surface. Drill a hole at the mounting point to match the diameter of the shank, test-fit the part dry and only then glue it with super glue. Wash and degrease the metal before painting, otherwise the paint will not hold on the smooth surface. Fit the tube at the very end of the build so that you do not bend it while handling the model.
For modelers who build American aircraft of the Second World War in 1:48 scale and want to replace the most fragile external detail with a more durable part. The model, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
