The drum magazines 1:48 Westland Lysander Mk.I/III drum magazines from the Quickboost brand will fill the rear cockpit of the British liaison aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
Resin castings of the drum magazines such as were carried in the rear cockpit of the Westland Lysander for the gunner's movable machine gun. Several of them fitted into the small cockpit and on a model they come across as a pronounced element which fills an otherwise empty space. The set is cast by Quickboost, the accessory brand of the manufacturer Aires. It is a typical small accessory of this range: one bag of castings, no modification of the airframe and yet a pronounced step forward in the view into a model.
The Lysander came about as a collaborator of the ground army: a high-set wing, fixed landing gear with wheel spats and above all the ability to take off and land on a very short strip. It was precisely that which made it the ideal machine for night flights into occupied France, where it dropped off and picked up agents in unlit fields. The special duties squadrons flew it without armament and without lights, with only a compass and the moon.
The magazines look best distributed into holders on the walls of the rear compartment, not lined up in a row. First paint them a dark metal and add chipped edges, and only then glue them in, while the cockpit is open and accessible. Use a toothpick for a light drop of glue, so that the material does not spread over the surrounding surfaces.
The magazines come bare, without a model and without paints.
