An accessory for a plastic kit, not a model. The interior here is handled with three-dimensional 3D decals: color elements with a printed relief on a decal backing paper that replace both painted photo-etch and the hand painting of the instruments. The subject is the Soviet Yak-1 fighter in its middle production form, 1:48 scale. The suffix advanced skill denotes the advanced version of the range, that is a more elaborate variant than the basic set.
The fundamental difference from photo-etch is that here you bend nothing and paint nothing. The elements have real thickness, so switches, seals, plates and upholstery stand proud of the surface and cast a shadow when seen from the side. The colors are printed at the factory and the instrument glasses have an imitated sheen. The element, however, slides off the paper in water and has no adhesive layer of its own, so the surface decides whether it will stick.
First finish the cockpit as usual: glue it, fill the seams, spray the base shade and polish the surfaces under the decals with a gloss varnish such as Future, Klear or Tamiya X-22, because it is exactly the gloss the elements hold on. Then shave off the molded detail in the places where the decals will go. Cut the part from the sheet, leave it about fifteen seconds in lukewarm water and slide it from the backing paper into place. On a curved side wall, lay the element down by its middle and press it out toward the sides gradually; on busy places a drop of cyanoacrylate glue helps. Do not use a decal softener or a decal fixer, as the chemicals attack the printed resin. Leave the seat and the belts until last, so that they do not get in your way. The whole interior is fitted before the fuselage halves are closed up.
