The Yak-130 is a two-seat jet aircraft intended for the advanced training of pilots. It has two engines, seats arranged one behind the other with a raised rear cockpit and a fly-by-wire control system that can be reprogrammed so as to imitate the flying qualities of various combat types, and that is exactly its main strength as a training machine. It entered service at the turn of the first and second decades of the 21st century. Besides training it is also used for light combat tasks, which the pylons under the wing and the fuselage serve.
The two-seat cockpit dominates the view on this type, so it pays to give the interior time; the instrument panels, the seats and the canopy frame are all clearly visible. Mask the clear parts and glue them only after the frames have been painted, ideally with a canopy glue, which does not fog. Even the engine intakes and exhausts out with filler, and on a slim airframe watch that the wings stay parallel while gluing. Modern finishes tend to be smooth and little divided, so the slightest flaw in the surface will stand out; spray thin coats with an airbrush and handle the transitions with free-hand masking. Spray a gloss coat under the decals, bring the panel lines out with a thin paneliner and then flatten the whole down to the gloss level you want.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
