1:72 decals with the markings of the captured Messerschmitt Bf 109 E-4/B, works number 4101. Small motifs for builders of 1:72 models.
Responsibility details are not available.
This set from Exotic Decals carries the markings of the Messerschmitt with the works number 4101 in the guise the machine was given at the opponent's test establishment. It is prepared for a 1:72 model and is applied to a finished, varnished surface.
The letter B in the E-4/B designation gives away the adaptation for carrying a bomb under the fuselage. In this guise the Emil was used for fast strikes from low altitude that made a timely reaction difficult for the opponent. Aircraft that were obtained intact were carefully measured, repainted and shown to friendly crews so that they could learn the differences from their own hardware and recognize the silhouette from every angle. Period photographs of such aircraft tend to be the most valuable guide for modelers, because they show combinations of markings that are repeated nowhere else.
In 1:72 scale the decals are small, so a pair of flat-jawed tweezers and a small brush moistened with water, with which the motif is pressed into place, pay off. Do not submerge the paper for long; it is enough for the adhesive to release. Once dry, go over the area with a cotton swab and rinse the adhesive residue off, otherwise matte patches will remain after varnishing.
