A turned 7.5 cm PaK 42 L/70 barrel in 1:72 scale replaces the long plastic part on a model of the German Panzer IV/70 tank destroyer in both production versions.
Responsibility details are not available.
A turned replacement for an exceptionally long barrel, where the plastic molding almost always sags under its own weight. According to the name the part suits both production versions of the vehicle, marked with the letters A and V. The weapon is given as the 7.5 cm PaK 42 with a barrel 70 calibers long.
The Panzer IV/70 grew out of a more lightly armed predecessor by fitting a gun of the same caliber and length as the one carried by the Panther. The version marked with the letter V came from the Vomag works and has a low, steeply sloped superstructure. Version A was built by Alkett and received a taller superstructure set on an almost unaltered Panzer IV hull. The long gun loaded the nose of both versions so heavily that the rubber tires on the front road wheels wore through quickly, and some of the machines were therefore given all-steel road wheels.
Remove the plastic barrel right at the gun mantlet and widen the resulting hole step by step. Try the metal dry before gluing, so that you learn how deep the pin goes and how much length stays visible. When painting, remember that on a long weapon the muzzle is the most visible part; a small transition into a darker shade does more for believability than an all-over patina.
It is sold on its own, without the vehicle kit and without paints.
