1:48 Czech Air Force Camo Mi-24V Hind 0835 Attack Helicopter Paint Mask Set

The Hind with the fuselage number 0835 in Czech colors

The Mi-24V attack helicopter combines firepower with the ability to carry a group of soldiers in the rear cabin, a combination that Western designs never took over in this form. The V version received radio-guided antitank missiles and an upgraded sighting system. The Czech Air Force operated these machines from Namest nad Oslavou, and individual examples gradually received conspicuous finishes, thanks to which they are a rewarding subject for modelers to this day.

Contents and intended use

Films with ready-made cutouts cover the camouflage pattern of this particular machine in 1:48 scale. The pattern is transferred by spraying, so the paint stays matte just like the surrounding areas and no edge of a transparent backing arises anywhere.

What to watch out for

• A helicopter fuselage has many rounded transitions, so form the film gradually and do not stretch it anywhere by force.
• In places of sharp curvature brief warming with a hair dryer on a low setting helps.
• Fit the pylons, the stores and the gun armament rather after the finish is done.
• Before taking the film off, check at the edge whether the last layer is dry under the mask as well.

The machines from Namest nad Oslavou were fixtures of air shows for years and their color schemes became a rewarding subject even outside modeling circles. Building a helicopter like that means having a piece of home aviation history on the shelf. For a collector of vehicles operated in this country it is one of the few cases where a particular example can be captured faithfully from period photographs.

The helicopter and the paints do not belong in the package; obtain them separately.
