Masking stencils for the cabin and the wheels of the AH-64 Apache attack helicopter, cut to the parts of the Takom kit. 1:35 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Apache was designed to survive a hit and carry on fighting: armored seats, separate hydraulic circuits, pylons under the stub wings. Its cabin has a conspicuously geometric form compared with the faired shapes of other helicopters, because it is assembled from flat panes. That detail, which came out of the requirement for toughness and for suppressing reflections, makes the model a rewarding object for masking.
A flat surface is the ideal base for cut film. It does not have to be stretched or lifted in the corners anywhere, it holds all the way around and the edge of the sprayed frame comes out sharp the first time. With a domed canopy of the kind fighters carry, that comfort cannot be counted on.
This subject is released in 1:35 by several manufacturers and their transparent parts are not interchangeable. The brand therefore has two separate items, each of which refers to a different manufacturer. When buying you have to know whose box will be on the table - with masks cut to the outline of a part that is the decisive detail.
The film is laid on from above and pressed toward the corners, so that it does not lift anywhere. The paint is applied lightly in two passes, because one heavy coat always bleeds. The wheels are masked only after they are on their axles, otherwise they are hard to handle. The model and the paints do not come with the item.
