Paint masks for the cockpit glazing and the wheels of models of the F-4E and F-4G Phantom II in 1:48 scale, cut for the MENG kits.

The McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II is an American two-seat combat aircraft that you recognize by its raised outer wing panels and its drooped tailplanes. The F-4E version received a gun built into the nose and became the most numerous variant of the type. From it comes the F-4G, a machine adapted for the suppression of enemy air defenses: the gun gave way to equipment for finding emitting radars. Both versions have their split canopy arranged identically, so one mask set will do for them.
The masks handle the two most laborious places in a paint job: the cockpit glazing and the wheels. The pieces for the canopy follow the shape of the frames, so the frame stays sharply bounded and the glass clean. The wheel masks separate the hub from the tire, where a regular circle is hard to hit with a brush. The cut is based on the kits from MENG in 1:48 scale; on models from other manufacturers it fits only with reservations. The extent of the sheet and the exact placement are described in the manufacturer's instructions.
Wash and degrease the parts first, otherwise the mask will not adhere and the paint bleeds under it. Stick it down before spraying, press the edges of the frames with a toothpick and apply the paint in several thin coats. With the wheels, let the tire cure and only then mask and spray the hub. Lift the masks while the paint is still fresh and pull them back at an angle.
The set suits anyone building a Phantom who does not want to cover a split canopy with tape. The package holds masks; paints, glue and a kit are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
