The real subject

The Kfir is an Israeli supersonic fighter aircraft based on the Mirage airframe. In the C.2 rendition it received small canard surfaces ahead of the wing and a modified leading edge, so it can easily be told apart from the older machines. The delta wing without a horizontal tail surface gives the aircraft an unmistakable silhouette. Some of the retired Kfirs were given a second life in air combat training: in the role of the aggressor they play the opponent for pilots in training and carry striking camouflage schemes which are meant to distinguish them from their own machines at first glance. Under the designation F-21 the Kfirs served in this role with the US Navy and the Marine Corps.

What the set contains

The stencils cover the boundaries of the color fields of the camouflage scheme and the marking of the aircraft itself. The numbers and national insignia can thus be sprayed in paint instead of applying decals.

Building and painting tips

The stencils are fitted before spraying, onto a perfectly dried and degreased base. Press the edges down along their whole length; on rounded areas proceed bit by bit. Apply the paint in thin layers and lead it at right angles to the edge of the stencil rather than under it, as otherwise it will run under. Take the stencil off as soon as the paint has flashed off; after full curing the edge tears away more easily. The particular order of shades and the way of fixing the stencils are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
