The universal sheet of the Mark I brand covers the national insignia of the Cuban Air Force. It is not intended for a single kit, so with it practically any machine that served on the island can be marked, from piston types to jet equipment.
The Cuban Revolutionary Air Force went through an unusually varied development. At the beginning of the 1960s it relied on equipment of western manufacture, including piston fighters and light bombers, which intervened in the fighting at the Bay of Pigs landing in 1961. The transition to Soviet types then followed: jet fighters of several generations, transport aircraft and helicopters. The national insignia is based on the triangle with a star, as the national flag carries it, and in its basic form it held throughout this whole period.
It is advisable to trim the film close to the printed edge, because a transparent border is visible on a light finish. After soaking, the element is left to rest on paper for a few moments, so that the adhesive dissolves evenly, and only then is it slid into place. The excess water is drawn off with the edge of a paper towel, not by wiping. In intricate places it helps to polish the surface lightly in advance, so that the film has nowhere to lift.
