Responsibility details are not available.
A complete kit of the small tractor used for moving aircraft about on the deck of an aircraft carrier. According to the manufacturer it is made up of twenty-one resin parts, with eight photo-etched parts on a small fret and a small decal sheet added. The castings are fine and at this scale even details such as the steering rods or the work lights stand out.
The machine came about as a modification of an industrial tractor commonly used in ports and factories. The Royal Navy put it on the decks of its carriers in the 1950s and 1960s, when jets were putting on weight fast and pushing them by human muscle was no longer possible. In the middle of the 1960s it was replaced by a purpose-designed all-wheel-drive tractor. The low silhouette of these vehicles was deliberate, so that they could get under the fuselage and in among the slung stores.
First wash the castings in lukewarm water with a drop of detergent, so that any mold release agent disappears. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a cutting disc, never snap them; protect your airways when sanding. Super glue holds the joints, while a two-part epoxy gives more time for alignment. A primer is a must on resin, and only then come the deck shade, the decals and the final weathering with oils and pigments.
Paints, glue and figures are not supplied.
