Masking rectangles with rounded corners, 3 mm high and 3 to 3.9 mm wide in steps of 0.1 mm from the SX-Art brand. The middle size of the rectangular series.
Responsibility details are not available.
On this sheet the height holds at three millimeters and only the width changes, from 3 mm to 3.9 mm by one tenth at a time. The set thus covers the transition from a rounded square to a rectangle of roughly four to three, which is the proportion most hatches and access caps on military equipment fall into.
The difference between a fine and a coarse division is not cosmetic. With a step of two tenths you are at worst one tenth away from the dimension you want, that is a visible gap or an overlap. With a step of one tenth the deviation drops by half and the mask sits on the engraved line so that no light strip and no smeared edge is left after it is removed. Choose the fine division, therefore, wherever the edge of the paint is meant to follow existing relief.
Three millimeters correspond in 1:48 scale to roughly fourteen centimeters, and in 1:35 to something over ten. That matches access caps, battery covers, rectangular windows and the areas for lettering, which are oversprayed in a contrasting color. In larger scales the same shape stays usable, it just moves into the role of smaller elements, locking covers or the infill of steps, for example.
