The booklet Fast Guide 250 GTO from Komakai gathers, on thirty-two pages, color detail photographs of one of the most famous sports cars in history.
Responsibility details are not available.
The photographic booklet Fast Guide from the publisher Komakai is a purely photographic thing: shots of the body, the cabin, the engine compartment and the wheels of a surviving example, taken with regard to what the builder of a model needs to check before he reaches for the paint. The package contains neither a kit nor parts.
The Ferrari 250 GTO came into being between 1962 and 1964 in a number of around thirty-six pieces. Under the long hood works a three-liter Colombo-series twelve-cylinder engine with a set of Weber carburetors, and behind it a five-speed gearbox. The aluminum body was built by Scaglietti and its shape arose largely from testing, not from calculation. The type won the manufacturers' championship title in the GT category three seasons in a row and today it is among the most expensively traded automobiles of all.
What a modeler will appreciate most is what a plastic part never tells: the depth of the pressings around the cooling opening, the division of the lower edge of the doors or the way the rear lid is attached. It is precisely such small things that set a model built from the box apart from a model built from the real subject.
For builders of historic sports cars who want to go beyond the instructions, and for collectors who like to have a printed reference on the real subject alongside the model. The publication is usable regardless of how large a model you are building.
