Hasegawa 1:48 Supermarine Spitfire Mk.VIII Against Japan is a limited edition plastic kit of the British fighter in Pacific service, with decals for RAF and RAAF machines.
Responsibility details are not available.
This injection-molded plastic kit from the Japanese maker Hasegawa captures the British Supermarine Spitfire Mk.VIII fighter in 1:48 scale. It is a limited edition with a decal set aimed at machines used against Japan in the Pacific and Burma theaters. The box contains parts in gray and clear plastic and a decal sheet for several color schemes.
The Spitfire Mk.VIII was one of the most advanced versions of the legendary fighter, with a supercharged Rolls-Royce Merlin engine, a retractable tailwheel and a strengthened airframe. Thanks to its long range with a drop tank it proved itself with RAF and RAAF squadrons in the fight against Japanese air power.
Use thin plastic cement and sand the joints down as you go. The cockpit and the landing gear come into their own after a primer has been sprayed on and a fine wash applied. Apply the fuselage colors with an airbrush, use a gloss coat under the decals and tie the whole thing together with a matte coat.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
