The sheet carries a continuous print imitating the weave of carbon fiber. It is therefore not used like an ordinary decal with a finished shape, but as an area from which you cut exactly the piece you need: an engine cover, a diffuser, a wing, a dashboard, a fender or a chain guard. The rendering is fine, so it suits places where a coarser weave would look overdone in the given scale.
The sheet is listed for scales from 1:6 to 1:24, that is from large motorcycle models to ordinary car kits. A simple rule applies: the smaller the model, the finer the weave should be, so that the pattern does not look like a checkered tablecloth. For the largest scales it suits smaller parts and interior surfaces, where the pattern does not have to line up across a large continuous hood.
Cut a piece slightly larger than the area of the part and soak it in lukewarm water. As soon as the print releases from the backing, slide it onto the part and press the water out from underneath with a soft cloth, working from the center to the edges. On curved surfaces a decal softener helps the print to pull down so that no bubbles remain underneath. The base has to be smooth and glossy, otherwise the decal will lighten and the weave will go gray. Once dry, varnish over it, which makes the remaining edge disappear. On parts with a sharp edge it is better to apply the print in sections than to stretch it around a corner, because a stretched weave visibly distorts.
The package holds the decal sheet. The model, a decal softener and varnish are not included, unless stated otherwise.
