Fine photo-etched ship railings in 1:600 scale for models of Imperial Japanese Navy vessels take the place of the plastic parts of the kit with a thin metal structure.
Responsibility details are not available.
An accessory for a ship kit. Photo-etched strips of railings in a form which, according to the name, matches Imperial Japanese Navy vessels. The set is universal; the strips are shortened to the length of the particular deck.
In 1:600 scale the outcome is decided before any glue comes into it. A strip of railing weighs practically nothing and readily sticks to a finger or flies off the tweezers with static. It helps to work on a light, matte mat on which the metal can be seen, and to keep a dampened brush at hand; a lost part can be picked up with it far more reliably than with tweezers. Keep the air in the room still, with no draft and no extraction running.
Separate the strips by laying the etching on a glass plate and pushing a fresh knife blade vertically through the tab; biting with nippers deforms material as thin as this. Level the remaining tab by sanding it on fine paper laid on glass. Transfer the glue to the model with the tip of a wooden stick and in an amount that can barely be seen; at this scale super glue wicks between the stanchions at once and glues the railing into a solid area. Paint beforehand on the fret over a primer for metal. Fit the railings as the last step of the build and from then on hold the finished model by its base, not by the hull.
This is an accessory for a ship kit, not a kit on its own. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package.
