An add-on body kit in 1:24 scale which changes the form of a Mazda RX-7 model to the rendition carried as Veilside D1-GT. According to the name it is cut for the Tamiya kit numbered 24116, so it is not a standalone model.

The real subject

The Mazda RX-7 is a Japanese sports coupe which differs from the rest in its powerplant alone: it is driven by a Wankel rotary engine. Veilside is a Japanese tuning house whose body packages rebuild the car into a substantially wider and more aggressive form, so little of the original silhouette is left. A model built with this kit therefore looks different from the kit out of the box and will not be lost in a display case beside production cars.

Building tips

• Read the whole of the instructions before you start cutting, as some parts are removed from the kit.
• Make the cut a little way from the final edge and sand down to the shape; material comes off more easily than it goes back on.
• Seat the parts dry and mark the seams, and only then glue.
• Glue with super glue; it holds regardless of what the parts are made of.
• Before painting, wash and degrease the body, as every unevenness and fingerprint shows under the varnish.

For more experienced builders of modified Japanese cars who dare to cut into a body and want a model in a particular rendition. The scope of the parts is given by the manufacturer in the enclosed instructions. The set is an accessory to a kit, which it does not replace; paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
