A replacement cast engine nozzle in the drawn-in position for a 1:72 model of the fifth-generation carrier aircraft. Intended for the kit from Tamiya.
Responsibility details are not available.
The smaller the model, the more it is openings and recesses that stand out on it. The tail of a fighter in 1:72 is a textbook example: a plastic nozzle glued from two shells has a visible seam exactly where the viewer looks first, and its wall comes out unnaturally thick. A one-piece casting does away with both.
What you get. A ring of movable petals caught in the drawn-in position, with the duct rendered inside and with edges that at this size cannot be milled by any home modification. The opened-out form is offered by the manufacturer as a separate item, so the choice between a shut-down and a running engine is up to the builder.
The carrier variant. The machine the part belongs to is the version for aircraft carriers: it has a larger wing with folding tips, sturdier landing gear and a hook to catch the wire. For it 1:72 is a rewarding scale, because models of this family can be built side by side in all three forms in it.
Recommended procedure. First cut the carrier block off, then wash in warm soapy water, prime the dried surface with a thin base and only then spray the metal. Inside, a darker tone with a hint of burning suits it; outside, a fine transition. The set is intended to complete a finished kit; you will find neither the aircraft nor the varnish in the box. Anyone building a machine with traces of use can suggest a faint soot deposit around the throat, but in moderation, because engines of this generation do not smoke.
