The German BMW Bramo Fafnir radial engine in 1:32 scale. An accessory for modelers who want a real powerplant to be seen under an opened cowling.
Responsibility details are not available.
Fafnir is the name of a German aero engine built by the Brandenburgische Motorenwerke, Bramo for short. At the end of the 1930s the works became part of BMW, which is why both names appear side by side in the designation. It is an air-cooled radial engine with nine cylinders arranged in a single row around the crankcase. Among other machines it powered the Dornier Do 17 Z bomber and the four-engine Focke-Wulf Fw 200, that is machines where the engine is clearly visible under the cowling and where every detail counts.
An engine in 1:32 scale intended to complete an aircraft kit. It comes into its own wherever you want to leave the cowling open or part of it hinged aside, and also when building a diorama with a machine taken apart, where the engine lies on a stand or hangs on a workshop frame. Before gluing, try the parts dry where they are to sit, because the space under the cowling differs between kits.
Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the rest carefully, so that the ribbing of the cylinders stays sharp. The parts are not polystyrene; join them with cyanoacrylate glue and wash and degrease them before painting. It pays to set the cylinders and the crankcase apart in shade, a dry brush will draw out the fins and a dark wash will give depth. The ignition harness can be added from thin wire. The particular procedure is given in the manufacturer's instructions.
For modelers of German aircraft in a large scale and for builds where the powerplant is meant to be seen. Paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
