A plastic kit of the Japanese destroyer Yukikaze in 1:350 scale, in the movie version. A Kagero-class ship that survived the whole war in the Pacific and served out a second career under a foreign flag.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Yukikaze belonged to the Kagero class, one of the most successful designs of the Imperial Japanese Navy. She entered service in January 1940 and went through practically every major clash in the Pacific, from Midway through the fighting for Guadalcanal to Leyte Gulf. In April 1945 she escorted the force sent to Okinawa and returned from that as well. She came through the war without serious damage, which earned her among sailors the reputation of a ship that shells could not reach.
After the surrender she served to repatriate soldiers and in 1947 she was handed over to China, where she sailed under a new name for another decade. She was broken up only at the beginning of the 1970s. Of the whole class she was the only one to live to see peacetime service, and it is precisely this story that made her one of the most built Japanese destroyers of all.
The designation in the name refers to the movie version of the set. The order of building is settled with ships: first the hull and the deck, then the superstructures, only then the photo-etch and finally the rigging. Anyone planning metal accessories should have them to hand before the deck is closed, because fitting railings back into a finished model is thankless work.
