The fluorescent combination of yellow and orange was among the most conspicuous there has ever been in endurance racing. On the Ferrari 488 GTE of the Clearwater Racing team it had a practical reason: in the night part of a race the slower category has to be legible to faster cars at first glance, and fluorescent shades manage that even in the glare of headlights.
Fluorescent pigment is the hardest mixing discipline in modeling. On its own it is semi-transparent and over a dark base it loses all its luminosity, so it has to be applied onto a saturated white foundation. The set solves this problem for the builder: it holds four bottles of thirty milliliters each, among them precisely the white meant as a base under the fluorescent shades, then a fluorescent yellow, a fluorescent orange and a gray. The search for the right white and the attempts to mix a shade that never comes out right anyway thus fall away.
The set holds the paints only. A primer, a varnish and a kit of the car are not included and are obtained separately. Fluorescent pigments are moreover sensitive to sunlight, so the finished model belongs in a display case out of direct sun, otherwise the glow will fade in time.
