Responsibility details are not available.
A kit of the British light cruiser HMS Belfast in 1:700 scale from the manufacturer Trumpeter. The model captures the ship as she was in 1959, that is after the extensive reconstruction that changed her superstructure, her masts and the arrangement of her light armament. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
Belfast is a light cruiser of the Royal Navy, launched in 1938. During her long service she went through several refits; the most extensive took place in the second half of the 1950s, and it is exactly that one this version of the model captures. The ship received a new mast arrangement with more modern radar equipment and a reworked superstructure, so her silhouette differs from the wartime form at first glance. Belfast is preserved today as a museum ship, so a builder can compare the subject with the surviving original.
In 1:700 scale clean work decides everything: the parts are tiny, so remove the sprue gates with a sharp blade and fill the joints only minimally, so that the engraved detail of the deck is not lost. It is a good idea to paint the hull before the superstructure is fitted and to deal with the decks by masking or by spraying them separately. The masts and the fine structures can be improved markedly with photo-etched accessories, especially railings and ladders, which are glued with cyanoacrylate glue. Restrained weathering has proven itself at the end, a fine wash into the recesses and light traces of corrosion at the hawse holes and the drains. The model looks good both on a stand and set into a water surface.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
