The product

What it is suited to

The 1:700 scale is the most widespread one for ship models, so the set is aimed above all at them. Equipment placed around a deck is one of the simplest ways to bring it to life, and it gives the model back its scale at the same time: it is only against a tiny vehicle that the viewer realizes how broad the area really is. It will serve in a harbor diorama or a display scene too.

Working with tiny parts

At 1:700 scale the parts are genuinely small, so have tweezers, a new blade and good light ready, and ideally a light-colored surface on which you will not lose a part. Separate them a little away from the edge and lightly sand what is left. Wash and degrease the surface before painting. Choose the glue to match the material of the part and apply it in the smallest of quantities.

• Spray the base coat in a thin layer so that it does not flood the shaped detail.
• Thin the paints more than usual and apply them in two passes.
• A dark glaze in the recesses gives tiny parts their readability back.
• Place the vehicles irregularly; a row in line reads as unnatural.
• Glue them down only once the painting of the deck is finished.
